Black Peak is one of my favourite local mountains to paint. Its distinctive shape makes it such a striking subject, particularly when the afternoon sun catches the mountain and makes it seem to leap out of the landscape. I love the way the sunlight illuminates the snow, creating dazzling areas of white against beautiful blue shadows. It's this wonderful contrast of light and shade that brings the mountain to life, giving it a real three-dimensional quality.
In Sunshine on Black Peak II, I've tried to capture that magical moment when the afternoon light transforms this familiar mountain into something truly spectacular.
